Hi, welcome back to REALTALK™ with Sarasota's luxury waterfront specialist, Roger Pettingell. Hey Roger.
Neither rain, nor snow...
Will stop us from filming REALTALK™.
Exactly.
And can you believe in a couple of days it's going to be the first of June, which signals the start of...
Rainy season.
Rainy season, we don't want to say the other word.
You know, we've had a lot of rain. I think this is the rainiest May in some time recorded history.
A ton.
Which we always need the rain, so that's probably good to have everything stay green. But we are coming into that kind of stormy season and so one of the things that we always like to remind people, is that we're here for you. And we really, you know not to brag on ourselves, but I felt like we really came through for people last hurricane season, during Irma in particular.
Yeah.
And we know there are a lot of people are there away from the area, they wonder what's going on.
Right.
And we have six full time people here and we're always available. Our offices open, you know seven days a week. So we always have somebody here. So if people need to check in with us. We have an email list, we have a text list, we always let people know. We give storm updates. You know, we've moved in quite a few porch chairs in our time.
We've moved a lot of porch furniture in our days.
In and out, and I think that's an important service.
It is.
That we provide for people. So we remind our customers you know, some of the things that they need to do like porch furniture. You know, if your place isn't for sale.
Right.
We like to have that inside, that's smart. You know, you like to have a plan, you like to make sure that, you know, we have a key or somebody that takes care of your place has a key, that you have your, you know, action plan if you're staying here. Some of the things that, you know, the things that you need to have.
Absolutely, because it can be a stressful time, so anything that we can do to alleviate the stress of our sellers, or just give residents tips, we're happy to do that.
And I think the older I get, the more I realize, you know, it's not like Florida might have hurricanes, Hawaii has volcanoes. You know the Northeast actually has had way more hurricane damage than we have in any of I've been here.
Right.
It's just something, there's always something, and you need to be prepared. And when you're buying real estate, one of the things we learned last year, is you know the homes that were built to the new building construction codes, did great.
They did.
And so you know, those impact glass windows, the elevated homes, you know those are things when you're thinking about what to be purchasing.
Right.
Look for those, have your hurricane shutters, just be prepared.
Yeah, if there's anything we can help you to get ready for storm season, we're here for you. Be sure to visit us at LongboatRealEstate.com. Thanks so much for joining us on REALTALK™. Stay dry.
