Record Sales History

With more than 33 years of experience selling real estate, Roger has contracted and sold over $1 billion of luxury property in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The year 2016 ended with $77 million in closed sales, a personal record year for Roger, prolonging his streak as the top producing agent in the area and in Florida among Coldwell Banker REALTORS®.

During the 2005 housing boom Roger experienced one of his best years, selling $54 million. And when the market began to take a downturn in 2007, Roger managed to consistently close an average of $40 million in property sales for the next three years. In 2010 he sold more than $40 million, which was $14 million more than the next single agent. The end of 2012 saw Roger sell more than $50 million in property and for the third time in five years, he was once again named the number one REALTOR® for Sarasota and Manatee counties and the number one Coldwell Banker agent for the entire Southeast region (including Texas and Georgia).

Education and Early Sales

Born in New York, Roger was originally headed for a medical career after graduating with degrees in biology and chemistry from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. Heading south to Florida, Roger found himself in Sarasota, leading the marketing team for Arvida's luxury property developments on the island of Longboat Key. Arvida, a Florida real estate company responsible for the development of several waterfront communities on Longboat Key, was later purchased by Disney™. In 1985, Roger began exclusively selling real estate for Arvida. His budding relationship with one of the leading residential brokerages in Florida provided valuable insight into cultivating his future selling luxury real estate in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

“Being on a team selling most of the original property on Longboat Key, such as Grand Bay, Marina Bay and The Sanctuary allowed me to get to know the island from the beginning stages of the luxury homes’ development, “ said Roger.

Leader in Technology to Sell Real Estate

By the time Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate merged with Arvida in 2002, Roger’s success was palpable. As a top producer, using computers and his knowledge of cutting-edge technology, he transformed his client base and customer relationships.

When he purchased a personal computer and created a website to enhance his business, one of the first REALTORS® in Sarasota to do so, colleagues were skeptical. These days, Roger’s extensive use of technology to market properties has made him a leader in his market. As a member of CyberStars™, a network of top technology-oriented real estate professionals, his success is due in large part to his ability to provide his clients the full advantage of marketing through technology. He uses the Internet to promote each listing with individual websites based on the address of the property for sale. International buyers find most of his properties for sale through video tours on the Internet. In April of 2014 he started a weekly YouTube show devoted to local real estate market trends and the communities in Sarasota and surrounding keys. “I’ve always loved technology, so it’s been easy for me to want the latest and greatest,” said Roger. “It’s part of who I am, I think. I don’t use technology just to make my life easier, which it certainly does; I think it’s a way to better serve my customers. Plus, it makes it more fun.”

Active in the Communities He Serves

Roger’s success can also be attributed to how strongly he believes in what does and the community in which he works. He and his wife Alisa do not simply work in the market that he sells in; they have also built a life and a family there as well. “Never meeting a charity [he] didn’t like,” Roger is an active philanthropist, heavily involved in local charities and community activities. Those include being a board member for the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, the Ringling Museum of Art and Southeastern Guide Dogs, as well as a member of the Sarasota Adopt-A-Family, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Suncoast, Forty Carrots, Child Protection Center and the American Red Cross.

Roger is a devoted father, Jake (age 12) and Max (age 9), and husband who has dedicated his life to loving where he lives and expressing that whenever possible. This “picture-perfect” family enjoys all that Sarasota and her islands have to offer, including water sports, fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding.

“I can’t imagine doing anything but selling real estate here,” Roger says. “It’s something you can do at your own speed and I love doing it. I hope I’ll be going strong for at least 20 more years.”
